About Us	http://www.vgtu.lt ------ VGTU Institute of Welding and Materials was founded in 1994 as centre of scientific and technical support for the State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate (VATESI). The institute is the division of the VGTU Faculty of Mechanics. The institute has laboratories of metallography, chemical analysis, mechanical testing, non-destructive testing, processes simulation and welding technologies. The Institute provides scientific, technical, expert and advisory support to Lithuanian State Nuclear Power Safety Inspectorate and other industrial companies. Director of the institute coordinate the scientific work of the temporary groups and different fields specialists. VGTU Department of Materials and Welding researchers actively involved in joint projects, perform complex research and expert works. Institute experts work at different Technical Committees of Lithuanian Standardization Body (member of TC 41 ,,Welding and materials" and TC 63 ,,Gas cylinders and cryogenic vessels” and another). From 2007 institute get the status of Authorized Training Body of Welding Personnel (ATB) and receive the appropriate certificate of International Institute of Welding (IIW). These activities are coordinated by uthorized National Body (ANB) of Slovenia. Created center organize the trainings of International welding engineers (IWE) and technologists (IWT) according IIW rules.
