We have world class experts from Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, India, Iran, New Zealand, Romania, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, USA presenting over 50 technical papers covering:
|
· Operating Pressure Equipment |

|
· Education, Training & Skills |
· Conformity Assurance/ Compliance |
|
· Inspection, Testing & NDT |
· Qualification and Certification |
|
· Welding Technology and Processes |

The programme will be of great benefit to engineers, technologists, supervisors, inspectors, NDT and other personnel from a wide range of industry sectors including those manufacturing, testing and operating welded structures and plant such as in mining, power generation, mineral processing, steel structures, defence, petrochemical, water, pipelines, oil and gas, rail and road transport amongst others.
Keynote speakers
Dr Geoff Garrett, Chief Scientist, Queensland Government, will give the welcome address with Dr Baldev Raj, President International Institute of Welding 2011-2014 and President Indian National Academy of Engineering, presenting the first keynote address in conjunction with other keynote speakers such as Dr Martin Prager, Executive Director - Pressure Vessel Research Council, USA, Dr Lyndon Edwards, Head, Institute of Materials Engineering - ANSTO, Ross Pritchard, Deputy Chief Engineer Structures - Department of Transport and Main Roads Queensland, Glen Sloan, Principal Submarine Engineer – ASC Pty Ltd, Don McDonald, Chief Executive - Australian Steel Institute and John Norrish, Professor of Materials Welding and Joining – University of Wollongong.
Jaeger Lecturer
We are pleased to announce that the prestigious IIW Jaeger Lecture will be presented by Dr Wolfgang Scholtz, Director, Heavy Engineering Research Association (HERA), New Zealand.
Venue – Cairns, North Queensland
The congress will also be a great opportunity to support the people and industry in Queensland which, as we are all aware, have suffered great hardship due to the devastating storms earlier this year.
Future Leaders Forum
As part of this exciting international event, one of the sessions is a Future Leaders Forum whereby we have the President of the American Welding Society (AWS), John Mendoza, and Dan Tadic, the Executive Director of the Canadian Welding Association, talking on the challenges in North America on workforce development (John) and the image of welding (Dan) leading into a facilitated discussion on where the future leaders for Australian and regional industry will come from. Other local and international leaders will also be involved in the forum and participate in the discussions. Once we have everybody’s ideas, we can then move forward on the basis of a national plan. This plan would also involve getting more young people involved in contributing to the success of Australian industry.
Registration
Don’t miss this fantastic opportunity to both benefit from, and contribute to, the extensive networking that will take place at the congress with so many Australian and international experts present. Email or fax the attached registration form to WTIA at events@wtia.com.au or (02) 9748 2858 today.
Sponsorship, Trade Exhibition and Presentations
Excellent opportunities are still available to companies and individuals wishing to gain marketing and technical exposure to this focused Australian and regional audience of technologists and decision makers. Contact events@wtia.com.au for further information.
We look forward to seeing you in Cairns! |
