 The Ugo Guerrera Prize

The Prize is awarded in tribute to the late Ugo Guerrera, once Vice-President and Chief Executive Officer of the IIS. He also served as President of the International Institute of Welding (IIW) from 1960-1963 and was Chair of Commission XV from 1958-1968.

 Eligibility and nominations

Since its inception in 2000, the UGO GUERRERA Prize has been awarded every three years to an Engineer or a Technician, or to a team of Engineers/Technicians, responsible for the fabrication of an outstanding welded construction of particular interest from the viewpoints of design, materials or fabrication methods.

The construction must have been completed during the period year X-10 to year X-3 and must still be in service.
Since the UGO GUERRERA Prize is awarded by the IIW only every three years, a call for nominations is launched three years in advance, open to all Main Member Societies, who may submit no more than three nominations each.

 Judging

Nominations are reviewed by Commission XV whose recommendation is later endorsed by the Technical Management Board and the IIW Board of Directors.
